BECOME CZECH CENTRE'S VOLUNTEER

Czech Centre, the Czech government agency for cultural diplomacy based in London, offers a range of unpaid volunteering opportunities. Whether you have specific skills you want to develop or just want to meet people and work in an interesting environment, come and join us! 

The only prerequisites are to be enthusiastic, reliable and committed to help making Czech Centres events and campaigns promoting the Czech Republic in the UK even better. No amount of time is too small and we very much appreciate all your help.

Volunteers assist us with a range of mainly administrative tasks including the following:

  • Contact database update (Access) - knowledge of Access is not required but appreciated
  • Internet research, creating specific contact lists
  • Press cuttings, archivation of publicity materials
  • Help at the Czech Centres events: serving drinks / refreshments, providing information to the visitors etc.
  • Leaflets distribution
  • Simple translations (EN-CZ, CZ-EN)
  • Help with exhibition set ups

You can return your completed form in person at 30 Kensington Palace Gardens, London W8 4QY or alternatively post it to us or e-mail it to info@czechcentre.org.uk. If possible, also include your CV.

Once you are registered as a volunteer, you will start receiving our e-mails with volunteering opportunities. These e-mails are not sent regularly.

Czech Centre London is looking for a translator

The Czech Centre London is offering a distance translation internship, where the intern will work from home (from the Czech Republic or elsewhere) for about 10 hours a week and will be translating texts mainly from English to Czech, but also from Czech to English. These will be mostly texts for the Czech version of the Czech Centre London (CCL) website (www.czechcentre.org.uk), but also other texts connected with CCL events promotion.

Salary: £100 (GBP) per month and a trip to London  including air tickets and accommodation for 3 nights. (more info below)

Starts: October 2018
The duration of the internship is 3 months, however a longer or shorter collaboration is negotiable.

The internship would best suit a motivated university student who is studying Translation and Interpreting or students of other social science fields with excellent knowledge of the Czech and English languages.

What we expect:

  • Excellent knowledge of the Czech and English languages (mainly written)
  • Creative approach to working with text
  • Experience in translation from English to Czech and vice versa
  • Interest in arts and culture
  • PC literacy
  • Reliability, responsibility and the ability to work effectively on your own
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail

What we offer:

  • £100 (GBP) per month
  • An opportunity to take part in presenting Czech culture abroad

  • For those who successfully complete the 3 months internship CCL will cover a trip to London, including air tickets and accommodation for 3 nights, plus free entry to CCL events
