Anna Geislerová at the Gate Cinema

24 NOVEMBER 2014 - One of the biggest stars of Czech cinema, actress Anna (Aňa) Geislerová is coming to London! Jan Hřebejk’s intimate psychological drama Honeymoon (Líbánky) where Geislerová plays the leading role will be screened at the Gate Cinema at Notting Hill this Saturday from 3 pm and Anna Geislerová will be there for the Q&A after the film!

Anna Geislerová, also known as Aňa Geislerová, is a Czech actress. Her rise to national fame began in 1991 at the early age of fourteen when she debuted in Filip Renč's Requiem pro panenku. Since then she has become one of the Czech Republic's most recognized celebrities on the silver screen. Also a top model, Anna Geislerová has an impressive career behind her (more than 100 films, TV films and series episodes) and has received several awards for her remarkable performances, notably in Saša Gedeon's 1999 Návrat idiota (The Return of Idiot), Ondřej Trojan's Želary (2003) and Bohdan Sláma's 2005 Štestí (Something Like Happiness).

A chance encounter brings Honza, an uninvited guest, to the fairytale wedding of Radim and Tereza. Radim’s former schoolmate, Honza insinuates himself into their circle of family and friends. An unusual wedding gift and his attempts to draw attention to Radim’s past cause tension between the newlyweds, building up a sinister atmosphere overshadowing the wedding. A beautifully performed, intimate psychological drama about buried secrets and the possibility of forgiveness by Jan (the Oscar-nominated Divided We Fall) Hřebejk.
