Kaderabek, Dvorak, Martinu and Janacek with the BBC Symphony Orchestra

10 NOVEMBER 2011, 7.30 PM. BARBICAN, SILK STREET, LONDON EC2Y 8DS. Two pieces in this all-Czech programme hark back to ancient myth, one of a Ukrainian Knight who fights against oppression, the other of a Golden Spinning Wheel that mysteriously reveals a treacherous deed. Martinů’s Rhapsody Concerto has a warm and very Bohemian lyricism, while Jiří Kadeřábek’s work shows a brand-new face of Czech music, urban and streetwise. Conductor - Jiri Belohlavek, with BBC Symphony Orchestra.
