The UK premiere of Let's Draw the Olympics!, an animated film created by Islington children and produced by the Czech School Without Borders London and the Czech Centre London to celebrate London 2012. To celebrate the London Olympics 2012 and Czech Open 2012, the Czech cultural season in Islington, the Czech School without Borders London (CSWBL) in collaboration with the Czech Centre London and the Czech Olympic Committee is producing a 10 minute animated film provisionally entitled ‘The Stories of Five Olympic Circles’ using artwork made by  one hundred and forty children from the London borough of Islington and the pupils of the Czech School without Borders, London.

The children, aged 3 – 13 years, come from five organizations: Highbury Quadrant Primary School, Light Project International, The Beckett House Nursery, St Mary Magdalene Church and Academy and CSWBL. Under the direction of Zuzana Jungmanova of CSWBL and her team the children  worked with various art techniques in more than fifty workshops running from January till March  to create the artwork for the animated film which is currently in postproduction and due to be completed in May 2012.

Inspired by ancient legends and the stories of Olympic athletes found on ancient Greek vases, the film is about five animal friends living around the British Museum in London who stage their own Olympics to bring to life the dreams of a little girl who cannot attend the real event.

All the participating children and their friends and families will be invited to the special premiere of ‘The Stories of Five Olympic Circles’ on 10 June at The Platform in Islington. Screened together with four other short films made by children as part of the Islington Reel programme, the children will have a chance to celebrate their filmmaking achievements and enjoy more workshops, as part of the Holloway Arts Festival. The Czech premiere of the film will be in Prague at a special exhibition illustrating the process of its creation. The film will also be shown at the Czech Olympic House (the Business Design Centre) during the London 2012 Olympic Games. All the participants will receive a copy of the film.
