In Search of Czech and Slovak Film: A personal journey (lecture by Dr Peter Hames)

8 MARCH 2012 AT 6.30 PM, EMBASSY OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC, 26 KENSINGTON PALACE GARDENS, LONDON W8 4QY. Members of the public are welcome to attend a lecture by Peter Hames, Britain’s foremost authority on Czech and Slovak cinema. The talk will be illustrated with extracts from some of the films which have most impressed Hames during his long involvement with Czechoslovak and then with Czech and Slovak cinema. Peter Hames's many writings include The Cinema of Jan Švankmajer and The Czechoslovak New Wave, republished in 2005 and regarded as the definitive English-language work on the subject. He is programme advisor to the London Film Festival and honorary research associate at Staffordshire University.
