The Susanna Roth Translation Competition - Winner Announcement

We are pleased to announce that ANDREW WALLACE is the winner of The Susanna Roth Translation Competition organised by the Czech Centre London in collaboration with the Czech Literary Centre. The jury has also awarded a special mention to James Morgan from the University of Oxford. In its 4th year, the competition was aimed at young translators up to 40 years of age with permanent residency in the UK who haven’t yet published a complete work of literature. Applicants were required to translate into English an extract from Bomba★Funk by Karel Veselý (BIGGBOSS, 2017).

About Andrew Wallace
Andrew Wallace is a professional translator from Spanish and Italian to English dealing mainly with legal and financial material who has recently started to translate from Czech. After finishing his studies of the Italian and Czech languages at the University of Glasgow he began his translation career  in Italy and Mexico. Among his clients were the Organization of American States, the Federal Government of Mexico and the VisitMexico state tourist office. In 2016 Andrew returned to Europe and started to work as an editor and language consultant for an international  law firm in Prague. He has also returned to working as a freelance translator and has recently started to study specialised law translation with the University  of Genoa.



The Susanna Roth Translation Competition
is run by the Czech Centres in a number of European countries and languages. The winners of the national competitions will be invited to visit the Czech Republic and take part in a Czech studies seminar.
