A Quiet Afternoon - Premier
Based on a short story by Czech author Bohumil Hrabal - who also wrote the cult film Closely Observed Trains - this is a portrait of one man on the cusp of old age, tinted by his adoration of football.
In an intimate locals pub in 1950's Prague, during a relegation match he couldn’t go to for fear of a second stroke, Mr Yupa sits on his throne of a barstool, offering up his football knowledge to anyone who’ll listen.
A comic and poignant piece, A Quiet Afternoon looks at the way lives can change in the space of 90 minutes, with no guarantee of extra time.
