Albert Černý / Lake Malawi / Maella / DJ Ben Osborne

Prague’s Move Festival launches a new series of live music events showcasing some of the untapped talent currently bubbling out of the Czech Republic.
Albert Černý is the charismatic front man of Lake Malawi, the band he formed in
2013. Amongst the bands’s many highlights, he’s opened for Thirty
Seconds to Mars, played at The Great Escape 2015 and been a tour support
for Mika. In 2017 they performed their debut eight-date tour of England
(including a sold-out London show) and have played at major festivals in
the Czech Republic, including Colours of Ostrava and Rock for People.
Lake Malawi have also just
released their first full-length debut album, entitled Surrounded By
Light, on November 10th. They have just supported The Kooks on their
recent stop-off in Prague and played two special album release shows (in
Prague and Brno) with Banfi as special guests.
Twenty-one-year-old Maella is at the start of a promising career. She
won Best Alternative Song at this year's TAIS Awards and is currently
studying music in London. Already a rising star in Prague, she has just
started turning heads in the UK, having appeared at several festivals
this summer. When she recently played at The Water Rats in Kings Cross, she
won the audience over armed only with her voice and an acoustic guitar -
despite it being one of Mattt Glamour's riotous electro nights.
The event is hosted by DJ, writer, award winning creative director and “Noise of Art polymath” (Time Out), DJ Ben Osborne.
Move is an international music festival which launched in Prague in
2005 and stages regular events in Prague and international pop-up events
in Berlin, Oslo, Paris and Clermont Ferrand. This is a preview of
series of events being planned for London in 2018.
