BBC Symphony Orchestra / Bĕlohlávek: Janáček - The Excursions of Mr Brouček

Janáček’s immensely entertaining, extravagant and extraordinary opera The Excursions of Mr Brouček is based on Svatopluk Cech’s satirical novel. It takes pub landlord Mr Brouček to the moon, where he ridicules its population of artistic snobs. He is also propelled to the 15th Century to see the heroic Czech armies resist all invaders.
