BREATHLESS: Free Walking Tour of the V&A Glass Collection and Breathless Exhibition with Curator Adam Štěch

This original introduction to glass, its making, history and design consists of a guided tour of the V&A’s glass collection and a visit to the nearby Breathless site-specific installation where guests can participate in live glass blowing and visit a pop-up museum of various forms and development stages of glass.

Adam Štěch
(born in 1986 in Děčín) has long been engaged in design, architecture, fashion as an art theoretician, writer and curator. He graduated from the master's degree of art history at Charles University in Prague and since 2009 works as an editor of the Prague-based magazine Dolce Vita. He co-founded the creative collective OKOLO, with which has prepared dozens of publication and exhibition projects in the Czech Republic and abroad since 2009. He is also the author of numerous texts on design and architecture for local and international press. His articles were published in international magazines such as Wallpaper, Modernism, Damn, Cool Hunting, Domus, Architonic, Mark, Frame, A10 or SightUnseen. He has collaborated with brands and institutions such as Phillips de Pury, Casa Mollino, Gubi, Designblok, Tolix, Verreum, Form, Design Museum Holon, Depot Basel, Bratislava Design Week, Vienna Design Week, Ziba, Dox, Qubus, Maharam, and more. Since 2013, he has lead a course on the history of design at Prague-based Scholastika. Adam Štěch was also a member of the curatorial team of the 25th Biennale of Graphic Brno 2012 and an external member cloistered Commission for Applied Arts in Prague.


BREATHLESS: The Essence of Glass

Breathless is a live presentation of glassmaking and its fundamental processes and materials. Glass designers Dechem and design collective Okolo from Czech Republic, will offer an insider’s perspective on the intricacies of glass-making, installing a mobile glass furnace from the Czech Republic at the Garage, 1 North Terrace. The designers Tomas Alonso, Marcin Rusak, Studio Swine and Michael Anastassiades, as well as the public, are invited to take part in a series of on-site experiments and workshops.
