Cechomor Tour

Multi-platinum Czech world-music legends Cechomor tour the UK this month for the first time since their appearance at the Royal Albert Hall in 1993. The last 15 years have seen them progress from compilers and guardians of the traditional Czech/Moravian canon to a stadium-filling headline act to be reckoned with.

The live album/DVD documenting the climax of their recent Transformations Tour has been in the Czech top 20 since its release in 2003, and features orchestration by Killing Joke’s Jaz Coleman, backing by the Czech Philharmonic Collegium and a cast of thousands.

Their music draws its strength from both Eastern and Western sources: the Breton fest-noz meets the Moravian verbunk.

Cechomor fuse the Western folk music traditions of Bohemians and Celts with the East European family of styles (reaching as far as Romania and the Balkans), and the result is a captivating sound that can swing from haunting bagpipe drones to gypsy harmonies to Goran Bregovic-style madness.

They are the Czech Republic’s best-known musical heroes.
