Czech Philharmonic at the Royal Academy of Music

The Czech Philharmonic’s collaboration with the Academy is a highlight of Czech Week in London, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. Over the course of two days, the Academy will be alive with activity, including chamber concerts, masterclasses, talks and an Open Academy project working with people living with dementias, culminating in a performance by the Czech Philharmonic conducted by the Academy’s Klemperer Chair of Conducting, Semyon Bychkov, in his first season as Chief Conductor and Music Director of the orchestra. The concert opens with Smetana’s The Bartered Bride Overture, for which Academy students perform alongside members of the Czech Philharmonic.
