Jana Vébrová - A Vocal Concert of the La Loba Performer
Claiming that she is a singer first and foremost, then a song-writer and finally an accordionist Jana Vébrová has a vocal style which is unique in its genuineness. Her singing wells up through her heart, is melted into her songs and presented with the help of her accordion. She isn’t dubbed the Bohmische hearth coeur for nothing.
She was born in 1985, in the former Sudeten border area in Northern Bohemia. Both the rural vistas and the experiences she acquired there, as well as a number of other indescribable feelings, perhaps springing from her subconscious, have an enormous impact on her charismatic performance, which might be roughly characterised as an expressive chanson. She started playing the accordion when she was 18. Despite being self-taught, she soon mastered the art. The identical temperament of both the player and the instrument has brought about a unique sight – when Jana plays, you can hear and see just one interconnected organism.
Though Jana’s music roots lie in traditional folk music, old pub hits and French chansons, she is unable to describe the origins of her performance and production – it is simply a God-given necessity bursting out of her.

“Jana Vébrová works magic with her voice, her accordion, her personality.” “…Her raw, sad, powerful ballads seize you, branding you with their obvious torment…” Jana Nekolová, SANGQUIS No. 82/2010
The album “Kykyrý” has a very compact sound.
Emotions and feelings act as a common thread; Jana is brilliant at employing
them, manipulating them, drawing them together, only to let them eventually
gush out from under the surface at the most appropriate moment. The same can be
said about her lyrics…” Tomáš
