Czech Jazz in the UK

This year the Cheltenham Jazz festival presents a special Czech strand showcasing the best of contemporary Czech Jazz. Apart from Cheltenham there are two concerts of Emil Viklicky Trio in Pizza Express Jazz Club in London and three gigs of Yvonne Sanchez in London and Brighton.

Presented by Budweiser Budvar, the celebration of the Czech jazz scene kicks off with a free double bill of funky, organ-led grooves from Ondrej Pivec, an award-winning young gun of the Prague scene, and honey-smooth jazz and bossa nova from Yvonne Sanchez.

Emil Viklicky Trio

The celebration of Czech jazz at Cheltenham Jazz Festival concludes with a concert from the darling of the Prague jazz scene, the lyrical pianist and composer Emil Viklicky. A graduate of the renowned US music college Berklee, he has gained critical acclaim for his synthesis of Bill Evans-inspired creative modern jazz and Moravian folk tunes. A rare opportunity to hear him outside of London.
