Czech Jewish Culture Special

Seminar about Czech Jewish history + concert.

 

Seminar: Czech Jewish history, 2-4 pm

 

The afternoon will include an overview of Czech Jewish history, testimony from Frank Reiss, a survivor of Theresienstadt and a lecture on the Czech Jewish scrolls held at Westminster Synagogue.

 

 

Concert: Bozena Steinerova, 7.30 pm

 

Bozena Steinerova studied at Prague Conservatory of Music and completed her musical education at the Moscow Conservatory with Rudolf Kehrer. She was a first prize winner at both the Beethoven and Chopin Competitions in Czechoslovakia, and has made recordings for radio station in Germany, Czechoslovakia and Japan. She has performed with the Czech Philharmonic, Dresden Staatskapelle and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestras, as well as giving recitals throughout the world.

Her programme in memory of Erich Schulhof will include Schubert's Wanderer Fantasie, Liszt's Vallee d'Obermann, Janacek's Piano Sonata and Schumann's Fantasiestucke.
