About Czech Open 2012
Czech Open 2012 was a cultural season in London running from March till August 2012, offering a variety of programmes set in the Islington borough, where the official Czech House was based during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Over 245 Czech and UK artists participated in the season which covered 13 events in 16 locations, with the support of over 20 partners and institutions. The season had been conceived as a broad collaboration of local artists, cultural institutions, children, Czech artists, designers, musicians and filmmakers and it presented many new, original and commissioned artworks. Czech Open 2012 was organised by the Czech Centre London in collaboration with the Czech Olympic Committee, Islington Council, Embassy of the Czech Republic in the UK, the City of Prague, Czech British Chamber of Commerce and other partners.
This event was part of Czech Open 2012, the accompanying cultural programme of the London Olympic Games 2012 organised by the Czech Centre London in collaboration with the Czech Olympic Committee, the City of Prague, the Islington City Council, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the UK and other partners.
The Czech Open season presented dozens of Czech artists, designers, musicians and many more who, in collaboration with their British counterparts, created projects for London-based galleries, cinemas, festivals and community spaces between March and August 2012.
Czech Open 2012 was the largest and most visible presentation of Czech culture in the UK in the last decade.
