Made in Prague Film Festival

This year’s Made in Prague Film Festival is a series of gems. The shining, beautiful diamond among them is the oeuvre of Vojtěch Jasný, the unsung genius of Czech cinematography, presented in the lovely surroundings of the Regent Street Cinema. The Czech Centre offers a modest tribute in parallel to the filmmaker’s 90th birthday, including the seminal New Wave classics but also the lesser known work created in exile. A different sort of gem, albeit more unpolished, with an irresistibly ruthless charm, is the UK premiere of the only real current Czech political satire series, The Blaník Bureau. To make this event even more outrageous, we are inviting most of the numerous excellent team behind it, including the leading star Marek Daniel who radiates as the devious lobbyist Tonda Blaník. And there are yet more gems of Czech experimental film, documentaries and video-art to be discovered in some striking London venues from elegant Bloomsbury cinemas through sophisticated Whitechapel Gallery to vivacious Peckham. Pick your gem from the treasury, or just take it all, it's there for you.
