Novella by Czech Writer Wins in English Writing Competition
Hana Sklenkova's novella Cape of Good Hope has won in novella category of the literary competition The New Writer Prose and Poetry Prizes. The novella will be published in a special edition of The New Writer magazine, The Collection, in July 2011.
Hana Sklenkova was born in Zamberk, the Czech Republic, in 1977 and she has been writing in English language since 2003.
Sklenkova has gained her undergraduate degree in English Literature and Creative Writing at Plymouth University in 2007, and two years later she gained her MA degree in Creative Writing at the same university.
Apart from Cape of Good Hope, a few other Sklenkova's short stories have been published including Pipi Blue, published in Ink, The University of Plymouth Literary Magazine (2006), and Sidetrack, published in Aesthetica Annual (2008).
Sklenova has also written a play called Some Sort of Sound which was staged at Hidden City Festival in Plymouth in 2008.
Since she became an active writer in English language, Sklenkova's work has won a number of literary prizes and been published in various literary magazines.
