Eva Kotatkova at the Frieze Art Fair

The Hunt Kastner Gallery Prague presents Eva Kotatkova and her new solo project at the Frieze Art Fair in Regent's Park. The installation called Parallel Biography explores a condition known as ‘identity disorder’ through the fictive story of an individual who creates parallel identities as a way of coping with, and defining his role in society. A related large-scale sculpture with an audio recording, by Eva Kotatkova and Petr Kotatko, will additionally be shown as part of the Frieze sculpture projects.

The mixed media installation recreates the private world of a recluse - full of dreams, delusions, as well as systematic observations, records and imitations of the outside world; where objects are used as theatrical props, drawings and written texts illustrate fictitious biographies, and staged situations visualize events that only exist in this person’s mind.  The visitor is immersed in an imaginary world, which resembles equally a dilapidated room, curiosity cabinet, identity database, storage-closet and theatre stage.  A related large-scale sculpture with an audio recording, by Eva Kotatkova and Petr Kotatko, will additionally be shown as part of the Frieze sculpture projects in Regent's Park.
