UK Jewish Film presents David Ondříček's debut In the Shadow

David Ondříček's debut In the Shadow is both gripping crime thriller and biting political commentary inspired by Psycho, Blade Runner and Seven. The film premiered in the UK as part of Czech Centre's Made in Prague Film Festival and is now presented by the UK Jewish Film and JW3 in five screenings throughout May.

It’s Prague, 1953. Police captain Jarda Hakl (Ivan Trojan), investigating a seemingly routine jewellery-store robbery, uncovers an orchestrated effort by state security agents to detain and eliminate Jewish citizens. Sensing the charges are bogus, Hakl embarks on a one-man war against a ruthless regime bolstered by the arrival of former Nazi office Zenke (Sebastian Koch), who’s been brought in to help with the case.

David Ondříček, CZ/SK/PL, 2012, 106 min, English subtitles
