Jana Novakova

Violinist Jana Novakova plays Paganini, Saint-Saëns, Janovicky and Beethoven with Vaclav Vonasek (bassoon) and Petr Novak (piano).


Born into a musical family in the Czech Republic in 1979, Jana Novakova was selected  for representation  by YCAT in 2002, while studying at the Royal Colleege of Music  with Felix Andrievsky as an Orpheus Scholar. Since 2002 she has appeared at major venues and festivals throughout the UK in recital and has performed extensively in Europe with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra under Jiri Belohlavek, the Belgian National Orchestra and the European Union Chamber Orchestra. Jana is currently a member of the Smetana Piano Trio.


Vaclav Vonasek also studied at the RCM, winning prizes throughout his career both in Prague and, most recently, first prize at the International Oboe and Bassoon Competition in Lodz, Poland.


With Jana's brother, the pianist Petr Novak, the trio make their Wigmore debut this evening, but have appeared regurarly in the Czech Republic. Petr is professor of piano at the Plzen Conservatoire of Music.
