Jiri Belohlavek

Music meditating on themes of loss as Jiri Belohlavek conducts two works by his fellow-countryman Martinu: the tragic memorial to Lidice, a Czech village annihilated by the Nazis, and the ’Fantaisies symphoniques’, a work deeply rooted in the exiled composer’s memories of his homeland. Mozart’s sublime Requiem brings the concert to a close.
