Made in Ash

Dorota, a naïve high school graduate, leaves her family and boyfriend in Slovakia for work in the Czech border town Aš. Joining other immigrant women in a textile factory, her poetic dreams are confronted by the tough reality of long hours and low pay. Left with no money and nowhere to go when the factory closes she makes harsh, life altering decisions.

Reminiscent of early Miloš Forman films and drawing on her documentary background, the director uses non-actors and authentic settings to offer a striking and uncompromising portrait of contemporary life
