Of Parents and Children

A comic yet poignant dialogue-driven drama about a father and son based on an award-winning novel by Emil Hakl. Once a month, retired biologist and his son Jan meet to spend a day walking around Prague, visiting pubs, swapping engaging stories about women, health and mortality. Meanwhile Robert, Jan’s illegitimate son, pays an unexpected visit to his father’s younger girlfriend with whom he develops a relationship. Told via flashbacks, mixings the family´s extraordinary past with real historical events, this superb adaptation uses a Hrabalesque stream of consciosness and provides a unique insight into Prague.

Part of the Made in Prague 2011, Film & Literature Festival.
