Martin Kasík: Czech Idyllic Paths

Be prepared to immerse yourself in the idyllic, elegiac images of an Overgrown Path by Czech Janacek and subsequently awaken by the electrifying, energetic vibes of Slavicky. Last but not least, discover the subtle ramifications between Polish (Chopin) and Czech (Janáček, Slavický) Romantic repertoire. First-class pianist Martin Kasík will provide a superb rendering of both sides.

Martin Kasík (b. 1976) ranks among the foremost Czech pianists of our time. The winner of several domestic and international competitions, and the recipient of a number of prestigious awards, he has appeared in many major venues, such as the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington and Tokyo's Suntory Hall. He has played with renowned orchestras including the Chicago Symphony, Czech Philharmonic, Minneapolis Symphony, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic and Prague Symphony Orchestra. Kasík holds major teaching positions in Prague – at the Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts. In 2008 he was appointed President of the Chopin Festival in Mariánské Lázně. His discography comprises twelve CDs for the Supraphon and ArcoDiva labels.
