Czechoslovakia, 1963, 79m subtitles

Made as two separate featurettes and released as one film (the first half, a day in the lives of two rival bands; the second following the participants of a huge, unruly audition), Miloš Forman's debut film effectively launched what became known as the Czech New Wave.

“A blend of documentary and drama, marked by a wonderful gentility in both its observation and its humour“ DVD Times

A BLONDE IN LOVE (15) 8.45 pm

Lásky jedné plavovlásky
Directed by Miloš Forman
Czechoslovakia, 1965, 81m subtitles

Forman’s bittersweet romance is a subtle and beautifully observed social satire. It maintains a remarkable balance between despair and hope, and is widely regarded as one of the great films of the 60s. If I had to pick just one film, it would be A Blonde in Love. - Ken Loach, Movie Heaven, The Guardian. 1966 Oscar® Nomination/Best Foreign Language Film.
