Musical Europe Concert
Award-winning IRMINA TRYNKOS & OLGA JEGUNOVA present “Musical Europe” - a magical journey through the known and hidden musical treasures of the continent.Come and listen to the most celebrated sonatas by Mozart and Franck, followed by 10 unique pieces from 10 countries, each celebrating their 10th anniversary as EU members in 2014. Travel through Poland, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Malta, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary, presented in the most international language of all - the language of music! This concert will feature a centre piece by famous Czech composer Antonin Dvorak.

Latvian pianist Olga Jegunova makes every performance fresh and compelling. She possesses a remarkable musical imagination combined with a seriousness of purpose and discipline. As described by The Scotsman "her technical ability is allied to a composure and charm that entrances her audience". Olga has gained an enviable reputation as a soloist and recitalist performing among the others with Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Zürcher Kammerorchester, Manchester Camerata and at the Spivakov Festival, the L. van Beethoven Festival "Kasseler Musiktage" in Germany, the Chilingirian Schumann Fest in London and Edinburgh International Festival.

This event is organised as part of the YEAR OF CZECH MUSIC 2014 programme
2014 is a remarkable year for Czech music, with over sixty prominent Czech composers, performers and musical organizations celebrating anniversaries – from Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Leoš Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů and Josef Suk to Rafael Kubelík and Milada Šubrtová to the Prague Symphony Orchestra and the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava.
Years ending with the number 4 have been traditionally recognised as years of music since 1924.
The Year of Czech Music 2014 programme has been initiated by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and Ministry for Regional Development with the objective to support projects promoting Czech music in the Czech Republic and abroad.
