KEY FRAMES – Alice

Něco z Alenky or Alice is a memorably bizarre and disturbing screen version of Lewis Carroll's novel 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' by master stop-motion surrealist Jan Svankmajer. Disappointed by the other 'fairy tale' adapatations, he aimed to make the story play out like an amoral dream.

A great follow-up to the incredibly successful screening of Svankmajer's short films at Depford Cinema, as well as the opportunity to discover his mad vision for the first time...

Alice is in her own bedroom, when a taxidermically stuffed rabbit comes to life and breaks out of its glass case. Alice follows the rabbit through the drawer of a desk into Wonderland: a mix of drab household-like areas with incongruous logic and relationships of space and size, inhabited by nightmarish creatures.
