New G(o)ods at Techo Showroom
A unique exhibition which met with a great success at the Clerkenwell Design Week last month now continues at the Techo Showroom in Clerkenwell. A tour de force of young design, showcasing the work of the up-and-coming generation of Czech designers - the winners of the 2011 Czech National Awards for Student Design plus a selection of the best entries of the previous years. An interactive lighting robot, a set of sex toys (a controversial overall winner of the 2011 Award), lamps, jewellery and variety of prototypes, models, and posters will be on view in the basement of the House of Detention. Through playful concepts and unique aesthetics, students of industrial design, architecture, graphic art and fashion design address social, technical and environmental issues and propose solutions related to the problems of aging populations.
Open Monday - Friday
This event was part of Czech Open 2012, the accompanying cultural programme of the London Olympic Games 2012 organised by the Czech Centre London in collaboration with the Czech Olympic Committee, the City of Prague, the Islington City Council, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the UK and other partners.
The Czech Open season presented dozens of Czech artists, designers, musicians and many more who, in collaboration with their British counterparts, created projects for London-based galleries, cinemas, festivals and community spaces between March and August 2012.
Czech Open 2012 was the largest and most visible presentation of Czech culture in the UK in the last decade.
