MUSICIANS

Nigel Price (guitar)
Award winning jazz guitarist Nigel Price´s blend of flowing bebop lines, deep blues sensibility and his mastery of chording continues to delight audiences and fellow musicians alike. Citing early influences as Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Nigel has played on more than 50 albums, was part of acid jazz outfit The Filthy Six and James Taylor’s band, and performed with the legendary David Axelrod.  A regular performer at London’s Ronnie Scott Scott’s Jazz Club, he released his fifth Organ Trio Album Heads & Tales Volume 2  in late 2016 to great critical acclaim. Parliamentary Jazz Award (Best Jazz Ensemble, 2010), nomination for a British Jazz Award (Best Guitarist, 2014) and a British Jazz Award (Best Guitarist, 2016).

Gabriel Latchin (piano)
A newcomer to the British jazz scene, Gabriel Latchin is fast becoming recognised as one of the country’s leading pianists. His hard-swinging, adventurous approach often draws comparisons with Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans and Phineas Newborn. He has performed with virtuoso bassist Christian McBride and opera star Renée Fleming,  Ronnie Cuber, former Jazz Messenger Jean Toussaint,  The London Jazz Orchestra amongst others and in 2017 he launched his debut trio album Introducing Gabriel Latchin.

Conor Chaplin (double bass)
Bassist Conor Chaplin, part of Mercury Music Prize shortlisted band Dinosaur, led by trumpeter Laura Jurd, has played with artists such as Thomas Strønen, Iain Ballamy, Kit Downes, Bobo Stenson, Lauren Kinsella, and the UK National Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has toured throughout Europe, the USA, and Asia and  is highly active in London's fertile contemporary music scene, and a regular performer at London's renowned Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club.

Malina – Liska – Nejtek:  Fragile Bliss
The three musicians who make up the instrumental trio Malina-Liška-Nejtek are rooted in three very diverse musical genres. Together they find common ground in a style which could be defined, somewhat all-encompassingly, as “New Acoustic Music“. Their first joint performance took place in November 2014 and by the end of 2015 they released, to great acclaim, their debut album Fragile Bliss (Animal Music).
The trio´s repertoire relies primarily on original compositions by multi-instrumentalist Lubos Malina (a regular member of the bands Druha trava, Garcia, Kon Sira and the Malina Brothers) and double bass player Tomas Liska (Druha trava, David Doruzka Trio, Kon Sira, Points Quartet). They are complemented, in turn, with compositions by pianist Michal Nejtek (Kollerband, Michal Pavlicek, NTS). The music arising from their interaction and mutual inspiration does not intend to be necessarily “new“ or “different“, but cheerful, dynamic, playful, and open in equal measure to the possibilities of melody and to journeys outside the boundaries of jazz.
