Diana Tabakov at Open City Docs Fest

Czech filmmaker and film industry professional Diana Tabakov sits on the jury at this year’s Open City Docs Fest (18-22 June) delivering film screenings and live events in various venues across London. Diana is coming to London to represent an online portal DA Films, the main project of the Doc Alliance festival network where she has worked as an Acquisitions Manager since 2011.

DIANA TABAKOV was born in the Czech Republic and brought up in Malta until the late 90s. She studied at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University, Prague, and later completed her Masters at the London University of the Arts, College of Communication, in Documentary Research for Film and TV. She worked as a previewer for the Sheffield Doc Fest in the UK. Between 2009 and 2011 she worked mainly in projects supporting film professionals, including the Institute of Documentary Film in Prague. Diana also cooperated on the training project Ex Oriente Film Workshop and the pitching panel East European Forum. She joined the Doc Alliance Films team as Acquisitions manager in April 2011 where she has been responsible for the programme and development of the curated VoD platform DAFilms.com. She also programmes documentaries for Kino Svetozor, the largest art-house cinema in Prague.

The online portal www.DAFilms.com is the main project of the Doc Alliance festival network formed by 7 key European documentary film festivals (CPH:DOX Copenhagen, DOK Leipzig, FID Marseille, Jihlava IDFF, Planete Doc Film Festival, Visions du Réel Nyon, Doclisboa). It represents an international online distribution platform for documentary and experimental films focused on European cinema. For a small fee, it offers over 900 films accessible across the globe for streaming or legal download. The films are included in the virtual database on the basis of demanding selection criteria. The portal presents regular film programmes of diverse character ranging from presentation of archive historical films through world retrospectives of leading world filmmakers to new premiere formats such as the day-and-date release.
