Curatorial Season at Delfina Foundation: Tereza Jindrová
Czech Centre London and the Arts and Theatre Institute - Artists in Residence Programme are supporting Czech art critic and curator Tereza Jindrová for a 6 week residency at Delfina Foundation. Tereza Jindrová (Czech Republic) is an art critic and curator based in Prague. She is interested in methods of creating curatorial ‘frames’ to layer different interactions between artists, artworks and the public.
Currently, she works as the Fine Arts editor at A2 magazine and as the Curator of Public Programs for the Jindrich Chalupecky Society. On a long term basis, she cooperates with the Educational Department of the National Gallery in Prague, with online platform Artyčok.TV and with the Czech Radio. Since 2014, she has been the co-curator of the Entrance Gallery in Prague and has been a board member of Skutek, a Czech association connecting artists and other cultural producers with a focus on institutional politics and the conditions of artistic production. Her previous experiences include working for Flash Art magazine Czech and Slovak Edition, the Prague Biennale and Meetfactory – Centre of Contemporary Art in Prague.
She studied History of Art at the Charles University and Theory and History of Design and New Media at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. She was awarded with Věra Jirousová's Award (2013) for art criticism for young authors.
In 2016, she curated/co-curated Apparatus for a Utopian Image at EFA Project Space, New York; Monument – A School of Gestures at CCC Gallery, Beijing; and GIRLFRIEND at National Gallery, Prague.
Delfina Foundation (DF) is more than London’s largest international residency programme – it is a home where the next generation of contemporary artists, curators and thinkers are supported and nurtured. Based in two newly renovated Edwardian houses near Buckingham Palace, DF is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to fostering artistic talent and facilitating exchange through residencies and public programmes ranging from workshops to exhibitions, both in the UK and with international partners.
Established by arts philanthropist Delfina Entrecanales CBE, DF is the successor to Delfina Studio Trust. From 1988 to 2006, Delfina Studio held an unprecedented record for supporting artists through residencies and exhibitions, including more than a dozen Turner Prize nominees such as Mark Wallinger, Jane & Louise Wilson, Tacita Dean or Martin Creed. DF is proud to build on this history. Working internationally DF has hosted artists from 18 different countries over the last six years with a soft focus on practitioners from the greater Middle East and increasingly South Asia. We have commissioned new artworks and programmes, often in partnership with leading institutions including Tate, Victoria & Albert Museum, Serpentine Gallery and Frieze Art Fair in the UK, as well international organisations.
The residency is supported by the Arts and Theatre Institute - Artists in Residence Programme www.idu.cz/en/
