Santini: lecture by Caroline Cannon-Brookes

A lecture by Caroline Cannon-Brookes, an art historian and former lecturer at the Leeds University. Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel, familiarly known as Santini, designed some of the most visually exciting buildings found in Central Europe in the early 18th century. Commissions from the church and the aristocracy demonstrate his ability and inventiveness to work in both the conventional Baroque style as well as his highly imaginative Baroque Gothic. He co-operated with sculptors such as Matthias Bernard Braun achieving some of the most brilliant ensembles to be found in Bohemia and Moravia.
