Bolek Polívka Theatre: The Jester and the Son

A canny and experienced jester king is entrusted with transforming a young aristocrat into a jester. Under his tutelage - and with the help of his companions - the novice is subjected to lessons through which he gradually discovers his jester self. But before a new jester can be born, he must undergo a ritual.

“Knowing neither mother nor father, he was raised in an institution for abandoned aristocratic children, brought up as a knight and transformed into a jester - all as punishment and in seven scenes. Held captive by buffoonish geriatrics, he was too beautiful to be a jester in the dotard-dumps of history.” Bolek Polívka
