Soul-étude - Installation by Petr Nikl and music by The Balanescu Quartet

Petr Nikl, a leading Czech visual artist and performer, combines theatre, visual art and live music by the acclaimed Balanescu Quartet into a unique experience in the atmospheric Old Abattoir. Nine thematically linked light-kinetic installations create inner windows in the labyrinth of dark rooms where short solo performances will result in a communal play of all performers and musicians, providing the audience with an opportunity to engage their imagination and be drawn in to their own play with exhibited artworks.

The Balanescu Quartet is applauded for re-defining musical boundaries in their unique work with such artists as Michael Nyman, David Byrne, the Pet Shop Boys, Kate Bush and Kraftwerk. (The Balenescu Quartet are on Mute Records).
