Survivor speaks: The Last Train to Tomorrow with Lady Milena Grenfell-Baines

A rare talk by Lady Milena Grenfell-Baines who was born in Prague in 1929 and came to the UK as a child on the last train of Sir Nicholas Winton’s Kindertransport in 1939. Lady Milena will share her journey to the UK, her life in France and her marriage.

 

In the 1960s she worked as an interpreter and was responsible for “smuggling” forbidden technical publications and books written by dissidents to the Czech Republic. Among her many achievements, Lady Milena received the Jan Masaryk ‘Gratias Agit’ award, by the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs for remaining a faithful patriot, an ambassador of goodwill of culture and history of the Czech Republic.
