Susanna Roth 2018 Translators' Competition - Call for Entries

Czech Centres and the Czech Literary Centre, announce the 5th year of the International Competition for Young Translators – The Susanna Roth Prize, named after the celebrated Swiss translator Susanna Roth (1950 – 1997) who made a significant contribution to the promotion of contemporary Czech literature abroad.

The competition is open to young translators up to the age of forty*. The task is to translate a significant extract (cca 10 pages) of as yet untranslated contemporary Czech prose published in the Czech Republic between 2016 - 2017. Previously published extracts are unacceptable. A jury in each country taking part will select one winner.

PRIZE
A trip to the Czech Republic with a specialized program, which will be jointly arranged by the Czech Centres and the Czech Literary Centre.

ASSIGNMENT AND CONDITIONS
The translated text (chapter 6, pages 104 -118) from Karel Veselý‘s Bomba★Funk; a professional résumé in the form of a profile consisting of maximum of 1 000 characters (including spaces) in Czech, a current photograph in print quality and the participant’s declaration confirming the authorship of the submitted translation need to be send via email to clarkova@czechcentre.org.uk by the 31^st March 2018.
