Sychrov: Supporting a Romantic Cause in Bohemia

For 20 years a small group of enthusiasts in the UK have, with the late Marguerite Kottulinsky Rohan - one of the last generation of Rohans to be brought up at Sychrov, supported the Czech State in maintaining and presenting this remarkable Castle and Park to an ever-increasing number of visitors. Nicholas Thompson, Chairman of the UK Friends, will speak about Sychrov and the Rohans, and reflect on what has been achieved over the past 20 years.

Nicholas has been a key member of the group throughout the period of its existence and has spoken before about Sychrov and the Rohan family as architectural patrons in Europe. He is a conservation architect and was Chairman for 14 years of Donald Insall Associates, the co-ordinating architects for the restoration of Windsor Castle after the great fire of 1992.

The talk will be followed by drinks and a buffet supper prepared by the Czech Embassy staff. This celebratory evening will be the last opportunity for Friends, past and present, to gather in London to share in what has been a remarkable story, and for others to learn about a fascinating piece of Czech and French history and how it is being kept alive.

The cost of the evening is £40 per person which includes the talk, drinks, buffet supper and £10.00 donation to The
Friends of Castle Sychrov (UK).*
Pre-booked Tickets essential

The talk will be followed by a Buffet Supper at the Czech Embassy.
