Tereza Stehlíková: Every Mother and Every Daughter
Czech film-maker Tereza Stehlíková and American sculptor Rosalyn Driscoll have created a haunting installation that merges video and sculpture. The exhibition leads visitors from outside to inside, from light to darkness, from world to underworld—and back again. The two artists explore the infinite progression of life passing through generations, from mother to daughter and from daughter back to mother. These themes, embedded in the Greek myth of Demeter and Persephone, are unearthed in a contemporary family history and explored in the installation

Stehlikova filmed her grandmother, mother and daughter in their country home in Bohemia, focusing her camera on the bonds, tensions and displacements between the generations. Driscoll has made sculptures of translucent, amber-coloured rawhide that receive and transform the video projections, giving the disembodied images body and dimensionality.
