The Assassination of Reinhard Heydrich

The covert military operation to assassinate Heydrich, general of the SS and chief of Gestapo during the German occupation of Bohemia and Moravia, was planned in London with the support of the British government and carried out by two Czechoslovak soldiers-in-exile. This new temporary exhibition spotlights the events surrounding the 1942 mission and unravels its connections with the escalation of genocide in occupied Europe. Part of Target: Heydrich, a series of events commemorating 70 years since Operation Anthropoid and the barbaric destruction of Lidice by the German occupying authorities in June 1942. Related events are: SS-3: The Assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, a film documentary by Jan and Krystyna Kaplan (29 March and 23 May) and a lecture by Dr Eduard Stehlik called Lidice – the story of a Czech village (25 April).
