The Cunning Little Vixen

English Touring Opera’s acclaimed production of Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen is a vivid celebration of birth, death and rebirth – the circle of life.

Janáček's most lyrical and tuneful opera sings of life in the forest where a spirited vixen defies the men who want to tame her.

In ETO’s acclaimed production, members of the company play several animal and human roles with an erotic duet for Fox and Vixen, a chorus of working class hens, local children taking the solo parts of the frog and the chick, and one of the most beautiful songs for male voice in all of opera – the Foresters farewell to love and life.

Felix Barret will direct the production with Peter Robinson conducting.  Vixen’s designs are by Joanna Parker.

After opening in London, the performance is scheduled to tour to two new venues: The Kendal Leisure Centre and The Brindley Arts Centre – Halton’s new arts complex which opens in September.

ETO then returns to the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, the Cambridge Arts Theatre, the Wycombe Swan, Snape Maltings Concert Hall, the Northcott Theatre in Exeter and the Lincoln Theatre Royal.
