The Mayors Thames Festival
On the South Bank on the river Thames, the festival will celebrate the collaboration, creativity and cultural diversity of all London communities. Within the European Village site, there will be opportunity to see cultural exhibits from new EU member countries.
The Festival closes busy streets and transforms the river, parks and open spaces with a rich programme of new creative commissions, a riverside bazaar and night market, family oriented activities, street theatre, music, and more.
There are jaunts on the river, opportunities to get down onto the Thames beach, all sorts of food and crafts stalls, as well as stalls and displays where you can learn more about the river and its environment.
The Festival’s Night Carnival with its thousands of people, music, dance, lights and costumes is a magical spectacle - the UK's most exciting procession.
This year's Thames Festival is particularly exciting, as it is the first time Czech Republic will participate.
