Tomas Zmeskal at the Afroeurope@ns IV conference

Czech writer Tomas Zmeskal will take part in the fourth edition of the Afroeurope@ns conference, this year held in London under the title 'Black Cultures and Identities in Europe: Continental Shifts, Shifts in Perception'. This inter-disciplinary conference brings together scholars, critics, activists and artists to debate and discuss topics from arts to European policies and many more. Tomas Zmeskal will read excerpts from his novel The Biography of a Black-and-White Lamb on the first day of the conference.

An inter-disciplinary conference with papers covering literature, history, music, theatre, art, translation, politics, immigration, youth culture and European policies, perceptions of North Africa and more, Afroeurope@ns IV brings together scholars, critics, activists and artists to debate and discuss these issues. With contributions from across Europe, the USA, Africa and Asia, the conference will enhance the field of African European Studies as well as lead the way towards a new awareness of the essential contributions of Europe’s black populations in all fields.

Tomáš Zmeškal graduated from English Language and Literature at King's College, University of London. He worked as a special adviser at the Charles University in Prague, lecturer, translater, interpreter and school teacher.
He is currently working  on his third novel. He is the author of two novels and a play. He lives in Prague, Czech Republic.
