Made in Prague: Emil Viklicky Trio

The top Czech acoustic pianist Emil Viklicky and his trio present a concert inspired by Moravian folk music and the great Czech composer Leos Janacek. Described by one critic as ‘the Janacek of jazz’, Viklicky uses Janacek's and his own compositions, all inspired by Moravian songs, as vehicles for his distinctive adaptation and improvisation creating a truly unique blend of music with strikingly beautiful melodies and melancholic and languid moods. Part of Made in Prague: Czech-o-Slovak Festival, 26 September – 30 November 2013.

EMIL VIKLICKY - piano
PETR DVORSKY - double bass
TOMAS HOBZEK - drums

“One of the best contemporary pianists, Emil Viklicky´s soloing and comping, his touch, voicings and intervals have a good deal in common with fleet, tasteful pianists like Tommy Flanagan, Jimmy Rowles and Bill Charlap."
Doug Ramsey, JazzTimes, December 2004

The basement Backstage Bar is open from 6 pm serving a selection of food and drinks - live music starts at 8pm.
