Call for Applications: LUX London Residency for Czech and Czech-based artists and curators
The Arts Institute in Prague, the Czech Centre London and LUX offer a fully funded London residency for a Czech or Czech Republic based artist and/or curator working with the moving image.
The residency will include a stipend, accommodation in London, dedicated desk space in the LUX office in London and access to its collection for research purposes.
LUX is an international arts agency based in London and Glasgow that supports and promotes artists’ moving image practices. LUX represents the UK’s only significant collection of artists’ film and video, and is the largest distributor of such work in Europe. Equipped with invaluable local and international expertise and a wide network of contacts and partner institutions, LUX organises exhibitions, screenings and workshops and lectures held in London and other UK cities.
Over the period of the residency, the artist/curator will receive curatorial, professional and logistical support from the LUX team in London and Glasgow. The resident will also have access to its unique collection of international artists’ films and videos, and will have the opportunity to closely observe the working process of the organisation and engage in and benefit from LUX’s extensive professional network across the UK as well as its location in a historic part of London.
The residency will be primarily based in the LUX building in Waterlow Park, North London, but the resident will also have an opportunity to visit and work with LUX Scotland, based at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Glasgow. During the course of the residency LUX and the Czech Centre London will work with the resident artist/curator to develop a public events programme around their research, both to showcase their work in London and Glasgow and provide opportunities for interactions with other artists and the UK public. The programme may take the form of screenings, talks, workshops and performances.
