Wandering Between August 1968 and November 1989

Photographs of the Czech people facing the invading Soviet tanks in August 1968 and mass demonstrations of 1969 following the self-immolation of two students combine with photographs of the confrontation of people and police during the 1988/9 peaceful demonstrations, which commemorated the 20th anniversaries, to illustrate their symmetry of the events. The story came full circle when the people achieved their 1968 dream of a free democratic society in the peaceful revolution of November 1989. The testimony of various Czech photographers risking their lives and freedom while capturing images which have become iconic today.
