Wenceslaus Hollar: The Man Who Drew London

Gillian Tindall´s talk is to mark the Hollar anniversaries at the British Library following the hugely successful exhibition London: Life in Maps. Tindall, acomplished writer and author of numerous books will be talking about her interest in Hollar. In her book, she introduces a story built on the little that is known about Hollar´s life and presents him not only as a dilligent artist, but also a fascinating human being.

Wenceslaus Hollar was born in Prague in 1607. Out of the turmoil of the Thirty Years War he made a chance arrival in London, and went on to become one of the most prolific and illuminating illustrators of the City through his remarkable etchings. This talk reveals the busy, lovable man behind the

work and the turbulent times he lived through.
